Terms of Service

1. Acceptance and eligibility

These Terms of Service (these "Terms") constitute a binding agreement between you and Trifoldi Solutions ("Trifoldi," "we," "us," or "our") governing your access to and use of Blurr A Face, our face-blurring tool for photographs and video available at blurraface.com (the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not access or use the Service.

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement.

2. The Service

The Service analyzes photographs and videos that you provide in order to detect human faces, and allows you to obscure a detected face with a real blur, a pixelated block, a solid black box, or an emoji sticker, at an intensity and size that you control (intensity does not apply to the black box style). Plus and Premium accounts may also choose their own emoji character to use as a sticker, in addition to the curated set available on every plan. You may also manually mark additional regions for the Service to obscure, to cover anything automated detection does not catch.

Photographs and video are processed differently. For photographs, face detection and blurring are performed entirely on your device, using a machine-learning model that runs in your browser and can detect up to 20 faces in a single photograph. A photograph is transmitted to our servers only if you choose to save it to your gallery, generate a share link for it, or otherwise cause your account to store it; using the Service to preview, adjust, or download a blurred photograph does not, by itself, transmit that photograph to us.

Video processing requires computational resources beyond what a browser can provide, so a video you upload is transmitted to and processed on our servers, frame by frame, applying the style, intensity, and any manually marked regions you selected. Before processing begins, we run a free, unbilled scan across the uploaded video to detect faces for you to review, exclude, or supplement with manually marked regions; if you manually mark a region, you may preview how it will be tracked across the video, also at no charge, before deciding whether to include it. Credits are charged only once you confirm and processing begins, as described in Section 5. If you do not confirm a reviewed video, it is retained only long enough to complete that review — up to approximately one hour — before being deleted automatically.

Once a video has finished processing, you may adjust which detected faces or manually marked regions are blurred, or change the blur style, intensity, or size, and reprocess it. Each reprocess re-renders the entire video and is billed again, in the same manner described in Section 5, for the faces and regions included in that run — not only what changed since the previous run. A completed video is not retained beyond this processing step unless you explicitly save it to your gallery, as described in Section 6. If you do not save it, its source file and processed output are deleted immediately if you remove the corresponding job from your active list or cancel it, and are, in any event, deleted automatically no later than approximately two hours after the job completes, fails, or is cancelled.

As an alternative to uploading a file, you may also take a photograph or record a short video using your device's camera directly within the Service. Camera capture requires a signed-in account for both photographs and video; unlike an uploaded photograph, it is not available to guests. A photograph captured this way is processed the same as an uploaded photograph, as described above. A video is processed differently: face detection and blurring run live in your browser as you record, applying the style, intensity, and size you have selected, and are baked into the recording itself, so no unblurred copy of it is ever created or retained. Because blurring already happens as you record, a live recording is limited to 16 seconds regardless of plan, has no free pre-processing review or manual region marking like an uploaded video does, and — unlike an uploaded video, as described above — cannot be adjusted or reprocessed afterward: every face the live preview detects while you are recording is blurred automatically, and what you record is what is blurred. After recording, you may review the result, and record additional photographs or videos, before choosing to keep or discard them. Choosing to keep a recording uploads the finished, already- blurred video and immediately charges credits for the face time it contains, calculated the same way described in Section 5, based on the face-visible-time measurements your browser made while recording. Once uploaded, a video captured this way is treated the same as any other completed video, including for saving to your gallery and the retention period described above.

3. Guest access

You may use the Service for photographs without creating an account. Guest access is identified by a browser cookie rather than a login, and is subject to the following limits: 1 photo processed at a time, up to 2.5 MB per photo, an hourly allowance of 3 credits (each blurred face consumes one credit), and access to 6 of the 11 available blur styles: real blur, pixelate, a black box, and the first three emoji stickers (😎 🙈 🐱). The remaining styles stay visible in the style picker but are locked, to indicate what upgrading unlocks.

Your guest cookie may persist in your browser for up to approximately 400 days, but the guest identity it references is treated as abandoned, and is deleted along with any data associated with it, after six hours without a request to the Service; your next visit then begins with a new, empty guest identity. For this reason, guest access should not be relied upon to retain your work. Saving a photograph to a gallery or generating a share link requires an account. Video processing always requires an account, since it draws on the credit allowance described in Section 5 and has no guest equivalent. Capturing a photograph or video with your device's camera, described in Section 2, also requires an account and is not available as a guest, even for a photograph.

4. Accounts

Creating an account is free and places you on the Basic plan described in Section 5. An account removes the limits described in Section 3, allowing you to process multiple photographs at once and providing a persistent gallery, but retains the same restricted, 6-style selection available to guests; unlocking the full set of 11 styles requires a Plus or Premium subscription.

An account is created using an email address and a password; we do not currently support sign-in through Google, Apple, or other third-party identity providers. Your password is hashed before storage, and we do not store or have access to it in plain text. If you forget your password, we will send a password reset link to your email address, valid for one hour.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.

5. Plans, subscriptions, and credits

The Service offers three account plans:

• Basic (free): up to 3 photos at a time, up to 10 MB per photo, 300 credits per hour, 1 video at a time up to 50 MB and 1 minute, watermarked output, and the restricted style selection described in Section 3.
• Plus ($8/month): up to 6 photos at a time (expandable to 9 within a single batch), up to 25 MB per photo, 900 credits per hour, 3 videos at a time up to 250 MB and 20 minutes each, no watermark, the full style selection, and up to 2 custom emoji styles of your own choosing.
• Premium ($15/month): up to 6 photos at a time (expandable to 11 within a single batch), up to 50 MB per photo, 1500 credits per hour, 6 videos at a time up to 600 MB and 45 minutes each, no watermark, the full style selection, up to 5 custom emoji styles of your own choosing, and the most screen-time per video credit (6-second increments) of any plan.

Plus and Premium subscriptions are billed through Stripe, our third-party payment processor. We do not receive, process, or store your payment card details. You may subscribe, switch between Plus and Premium, update your payment method, or cancel your subscription at any time through the "Manage subscription" option in your account menu, which redirects to Stripe's hosted billing portal. Plan changes are prorated automatically. Cancellation takes effect immediately, with no fixed term and no grace period, and your account reverts to the Basic plan immediately upon cancellation or upon failure of a subscription payment. Your account, gallery, and any purchased blur credits are unaffected by a plan change.

Each plan includes an hourly allowance of credits, shared between photograph and video processing, which refreshes every hour. Processing a photograph consumes one credit per face blurred. Video is billed the same way, per face — whether found automatically or drawn by hand — at 2 credits for every 4 seconds (6 seconds on Premium) that face is on screen, rounded up to the nearest increment. A face excluded from blurring is never charged, and a video with nothing to blur is free. Reprocessing an already-completed video, as described in Section 2, is charged the same way, in full, for whatever faces and regions are included in that reprocess run — not merely the difference from the previous run. If a video fails to process, or is cancelled or deleted before processing completes, any credits charged for that run are refunded automatically to the balance from which they were drawn.

Blur credits may be purchased separately, at $0.25 per credit, subject to a $5.00 minimum purchase. Purchased credits do not expire and are not tied to any subscription billing cycle. They are applied automatically once your plan's hourly allowance has been exhausted for the current hour, allowing continued use of the Service without a subscription upgrade, on any signed-in account including Basic. Purchased credits remain subject to the file-size and batch limits of your current plan. All credit purchases are final; we do not offer refunds except as required by applicable law.

6. Your content

You retain all ownership rights in the photographs and videos you upload to the Service. By saving a photograph or video to your gallery, or generating a share link for a photograph, you grant us a limited license to store and display that content solely as necessary to provide the Service to you, including serving it to your gallery or, for a photograph, to a recipient of your share link. A gallery photograph or video is stored under your account and is not accessible through a guessed or enumerated URL; a photograph may additionally be retrieved through the specific share link you generated for it — sharing is not currently available for videos. A video you do not save to your gallery is retained only as necessary to process and return the result to you, as described in Section 2. We do not claim ownership of your photographs or videos, and we do not use them for any purpose other than providing the Service to you.

You are solely responsible for the photographs and videos you upload, and for obtaining any rights and consents necessary to use and share them, including the consent of any identifiable individuals depicted in them, before posting or transmitting them elsewhere.

7. Sharing

Generating a share link creates a long, randomly generated address unique to that photograph. Share links are not sequential, cannot be derived from one another, and are not indexed or otherwise made discoverable by us. A share link nonetheless grants access to anyone who obtains it, without requiring that person to sign in. You should not generate a share link for a photograph you do not wish to make accessible to anyone who might obtain that link, and should exercise caution before posting a share link in a public setting. If you believe a share link is being used to display content that violates these Terms, you may report it to [email protected], including the link and a description of the issue. We reserve the right to disable a share link at any time, including in response to such a report.

8. Acceptable use

In using the Service, you agree that you will not:

• upload or share content that is illegal or that infringes another person's rights;
• upload a photograph or video of another person without a reasonable basis to believe you are entitled to do so;
• attempt to circumvent guest usage limits, rate limits, credit accounting, or account restrictions; or
• interfere with, disrupt, or attempt unauthorized access to the Service or its infrastructure.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to the Service for any user who violates these Terms.

9. Account deletion

You may permanently delete your account at any time from your account settings, after confirming your password. Deleting your account permanently removes your gallery — including any saved photographs and videos — along with any in-progress or recently completed video-processing job and its associated files, and cannot be reversed. Deleting your account does not cancel an active subscription; you must cancel any active subscription through the Stripe billing portal, accessible from your account menu, before deleting your account, in order to stop future billing.

10. Administrative access

A limited number of authorized personnel may access an administrative panel to support the operation of the Service, for example to assist with an account issue, investigate a suspected violation of these Terms, or diagnose a processing error. This access permits viewing an account's plan, credit balance, usage, and gallery photographs, and permits modifying an account's plan or credit balance, resetting its hourly allowance, or deleting the account. Administrative access is limited to purposes necessary to operate and support the Service.

11. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service, including its face-detection and blurring functionality, is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. Automated face detection may fail to detect a face or may obscure an incorrect region; in video, a detected face may also be tracked incorrectly or lost partway through a clip. You should review any processed photograph or video before sharing or publishing it, and should not rely on the Service alone to protect the identity of any individual.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Trifoldi Solutions is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising out of or relating to your use of the Service, including damages resulting from a photograph or video being shared, published, or otherwise exposed, whether before or after processing.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may amend these Terms from time to time, including to reflect changes to our plans, limits, or features. If we make a material change, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service following any amendment constitutes your acceptance of the amended Terms.
